At Advanced Cosmetic Implant & Laser Dentistry, we believe no one should be anxious about seeing the dentist. We want to do whatever is needed to get you through your dentist appointments. Many of our patients have opted for sedation dentistry.
Conscious Sedation
We use a method called conscious sedation. Patients are given a sedative, in pill form, which is taken about an hour before the procedure is scheduled to begin. It won’t put you completely out, but you will be unaware of ongoing dental work.
Patients are sometimes able to respond to questions during the procedure (nothing more complicated than yes or no). You’ll be able to breathe on your own. In some cases a patient will require a local anesthetic, like when a cavity is being filled. In that case, the local will be administered once the sedative has taken effect.
It’s important to schedule your day around the procedure. You will need a ride home afterward. Don’t expect to go to work or school that day.
